Violence against the Church increasing in Bolivia
One of the missions of Aid to the Church in Need is to be a witness to the struggles of persecuted faithful worldwide. In a news story posted on our website today, we see that this mission remains an important one. Many of us take our freedom of religion as a given but in many countries that is not the case. This incident in Bolivia shows how threats and intimidation are used in an attempt to make it difficult for people to practice the religion of their own choosing. It is even more difficult when the Bolivian president, Evo Morales describes the Catholic Church as an “enemy of peace” in Bolivia and demands for his country “another faith, another religion and another church.” President Morales plainly declared that the Catholic Church was his greatest enemy in the reform of the country and literally stated “We must replace it!” Click here for the full story.
