Welcome to Aid to the Church in Need

WHO WE ARE

Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is a wonderful organization which works under the guidance of the Holy Father. Its mission is to provide material help and pastoral care to the suffering Church and its faithful around the world. Wherever the Church is discriminated against, wherever the faithful are persecuted for their beliefs, ACN is there.

OUR HISTORY

Started in 1947 by a young Norbertine priest, Father Werenfried van Stratten, after witnessing the horrors of war and the innocent and needy left in its wake, ACN continues to be a beacon of hope for those in some of the darkest regions of the world — in fact, it shines its beacon even brighter in those areas where Catholics are punished for wishing to worship freely.

HOW WE HELP

ACN does much to help keep the Church strong:

  • Support the formation of priests and nuns, by providing basic necessities for seminarians and vocations as they continue along their path of serving God;
  • Provide Bibles and religious materials to those in need of spiritual nourishment. ACN’s Child’s Bible has been translated into 141 languages;
  • Offer transport to pastoral workers, i.e., bikes, cars, motorcycles, even mules, to allow poor priests to reach even the most remote faithful;
  • Rebuild churches and religious buildings damaged by war or hatred;
  • Assist refugees by helping victims of war and religious persecution with food and daily sustenance.
